YAY! Get those grills brushed of and out of the Garage! It’s almost time to barbecue! I love this time of the year. The weather is getting nicer outside, the days are getting longer and that urge to fire up the coals or light the gas grill is getting stronger and stronger. Are you a grilling purist or maybe a gas grill supporter?What gets your grilling blood boiling? Me, I go both ways. That’s right! I said it! I use charcoal and gas! Depending on what I’m grilling and what the weather is like, there’s a situation for burgers, brats, dogs, fish, chicken, steaks, chops, deserts and more. There’s something so delicious about that smokey rustic flavor. Nothing beats that charred taste!
When we fire up the grill, we have a few simple rules. The main one is that we do not use any kind of charcoal starter. Our starting technique is paper with a little olive oil on it, some dry leaves or grass and a charcoal chimney. It works very time. Also, the chimney makes a great mini-grill if you really want to do some rapid grilling and searing. Try a couple fillets or tuna on top of a little grill on the charcoal chimney. You can’t beat it!
So, if you’re like us, your mouth is watering and your looking over at that empty spot on your patio thinking about getting your grill out. Well, go ahead! It’s always grilling season. We don’t actually ever put our away. We gill summer, spring, winter and fall. Why let the good times and good food end?
