How to Instruct Your Models: Free pose, Smile & Freeze

In this episode, Yuri Arcurs is giving away some great tips on how to get that natural, genuine smile and full laughing smile – and the importance of freezing between the shots to get crisp, sharp images. Also in this episode is the use of a second shooter for expensive shoots, super group shoots or expensive models.

I don’t like the idea of second shooter. It may be distracting to the model and with two people running around not knowing what each other is doing, it can be confusing to the flow of the shoot. I would not recommend it.

A second shooter sounds like a good idea but wreaks the flow of the photographer. The second shooter will have to be really good. But as the photographer will be thinking how not to get into each others way instead of focusing on the next shoot. Its good if you want to just shoot a lot of images but to get the one great shot you might miss it.

It’s also about the photographer how fun he/she is. If you’re funny photographer sure you can make model smile natural much easier

    Great video. Thanks

Isn’t it the job of a model to make the pose look natural? That’s why you pay them. An amateur model will need some coaching and for them, adding some humor can help.

if the illusion is effective, it doesn’t really matter

  • quietman18 says:

surely a posed/forced smile can’t be termed natural.
